Congratulations! Your preschooler is growing up and school beckons. For many mothers the prospect of their little one starting school is "a thing" just as the prospect of giving birth is "a thing" during pregnancy. It looms in the future and, as it gets ever closer, it occupies more and more thinking time. Rightly so because Starting School is a big event in a child's life. It denotes growing up and moving on.
For a mum it can mean the end of going to preschool clubs together, a change of childminding arrangements that have worked for years and a very real letting go of your little one. Many mums don't feel they are emotionally ready. A cloud of sadness can descend upon a mum as the last year of preschool passes.
During this time parents will apply for a school place, a tiny uniform (if needed) will be bought, introduction days might take place. Children are made ready for the transition and learn how to hold a pencil, try to write their name, use scissors and sit down quietly for stories. Toilet training is a big part of preparing preschoolers for school and is a parenting experience all of its own.
So what help is there for a mum as she readies herself to say goodbye on Day 1 in the school yard? Marianne understands the practical challenges and the emotional rollercoaster that Starting School can bring. As a UK-based Christian mum and maternity coach she has recently been through Starting School experience with her son, Daniel. This series offers mums a positive, uplifting, humorous, practical and Biblically-based alternative approach to Starting School.
And in order to lift you higher as you go about your day, each episode comes with a contemporary Christian song recommendation chosen by Marianne just for you. Look out for something special in the credits at the end.
